Iran announced on Wednesday that it will target financial and banking institutions connected to the United States and Israel in the region, following a night-time attack on the administrative building of Bank Sepah in Tehran, one of the country’s largest state-owned banks with historical ties to the military.
The spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya military command, Ebrahim Zolfaqari, called the attack “illegal and unusual” and accused the United States and Israel of initiating the strike. He warned that Iran would aim at financial centers and banks linked to Washington and Tel Aviv throughout the region.
Local residents were advised to stay at least 1,000 meters away from banks due to potential risks from future Iranian operations. The warning comes amid rising Middle East tensions following a series of international incidents and attacks on financial targets.
Analysts note that these developments could escalate economic and security pressures in the Gulf and the broader region, potentially affecting international trade routes and banking networks tied to the US and Israel.
