Tensions in the Middle East rose again after reports emerged of a drone strike targeting the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi, allegedly causing a fire at an electrical generator inside the facility.
Iran reacted sharply to the incident, with senior official Mohsen Rezaei warning the United Arab Emirates against becoming involved in what he described as “Israel’s plots and schemes.” Rezaei, a former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said Tehran still seeks friendly relations with the UAE but stressed that “Iran’s patience has limits,” according to Iran’s ISNA news agency.
The UAE has not publicly confirmed who was responsible for the reported strike, while details surrounding the incident remain limited. Officials in Abu Dhabi said the country reserves the right to respond to any attack targeting its territory or strategic infrastructure.
Iran’s foreign ministry later attempted to ease tensions, insisting Tehran has “no enmity” with neighboring Gulf states. The ministry added that diplomatic discussions aimed at ending the conflict were still continuing through Pakistani mediation channels.
The reported attack has renewed concerns that the fragile regional ceasefire could collapse, especially as tensions between Iran and Israel continue to spill across the wider Middle East.
Diplomatic sources say indirect talks remain active, though no breakthrough has yet been announced.
