A gun attack was reported at the Israeli consulate in Istanbul on Tuesday, with Turkish media saying three suspected attackers were involved in an attempted assault on the diplomatic premises.

According to initial reports from local outlets, one of the attackers was killed during the confrontation, while two others were wounded and later taken into custody by police.

Authorities in Turkey had reportedly been on alert in recent days amid concerns over a potential attack, with security measures already heightened around sensitive sites.

The incident is said to have unfolded in the Levent district, where the consulate is located inside a multi-storey building. Reports suggest the suspects attempted to reach the seventh floor, where the diplomatic offices are based.

Security personnel and police officers stationed at the entrance reportedly identified the threat early. Two of the suspects were seen carrying long-barrel weapons, according to accounts cited by Turkish media.

When police ordered them to stop, the suspects allegedly opened fire, triggering a gun battle. Officers returned fire, leading to a brief but intense exchange that witnesses said lasted around 10 minutes.

Two of the suspects were shot during the initial confrontation. A third reportedly took cover behind a vehicle and continued firing toward police, apparently attempting to force entry into the building.

Police responded and managed to subdue the third suspect, who was injured before being detained. The condition of all individuals involved remains unclear.

Two police officers were also wounded in the exchange, according to early reports. Details about their condition have not been officially confirmed.

Authorities have increased security in the surrounding area amid concerns that additional attackers could be involved, although this has not been independently verified.

Initial assessments by security forces suggest the attack may have been a targeted attempt against staff at the Israeli consulate. However, officials have not yet issued a detailed public statement on the motive or background of the suspects.

The situation remains under investigation, and further details are expected as authorities continue to assess the incident.
