Iran has warned it will launch a “crushing attack” on the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln if it enters missile range, sharply raising the risk of direct military confrontation in an already volatile region.
Admiral Shahram Irani, commander of Iran’s navy, said the carrier strike group is being “continuously monitored,” according to Iranian state media. He warned that once within range of Iranian missile systems, the vessel would become an immediate target.
“The moment the American carrier strike group comes within reach of our missile systems, it will face devastating strikes,” he said, signaling a more aggressive posture from Tehran.
The warning follows comments by Donald Trump, who claimed the USS Abraham Lincoln had successfully intercepted 101 missiles launched by Iran toward US naval assets, a statement that has not been independently verified.
The exchange underscores a rapid escalation in rhetoric and military signaling between Washington and Tehran, as both sides project strength while avoiding outright confirmation of direct clashes.
At the same time, US officials have reportedly presented a 15-point framework aimed at ending the conflict, suggesting parallel diplomatic efforts are underway despite the intensifying threats.
