A disturbing discovery in Greece is deepening into a complex investigation after human remains found in an artificial lake inside a tourist resort in Sithonia, Halkidiki, were confirmed to belong to two different individuals.
The remains were discovered on March 3 during cleaning works in the resort’s artificial lake area. Authorities were immediately notified, and initial assessments suggested the bones belonged to a single person.
However, forensic analysis has since changed the course of the investigation. Experts determined the remains belong to two individuals of different ages, indicating they may have been at the location for a long period of time.
A key detail raising further suspicion is that the bones were found inside a suitcase. This element points toward a possible criminal act and raises serious questions about how the bodies were concealed within a private tourist complex.
So far, the identities of the victims remain unknown. Preliminary reports suggest that one of them may be a woman, although this has not been officially confirmed.
